Art Share Los Angeles is a community arts incubator whose mission is to shape lives through art, education and community action. Daniella Renee has been an instructor at the center for 2 years, teaching students about careers in the entertainment industry. Operating out of a huge converted warehouse in the Artists’ District, Art Share offers free art classes with incredibly talented artists. For nine
years, Art Share has had inspiring results in creating a variety of programs
that address educational and social needs by using the arts, counseling,
mentoring and technology as tools for change. In 1999 the Founder of
Art Share was honored with the receipt of President Clinton’s Daily Points
of Light Award. Vice President Gore also recognized Art Share for its efforts
in working with young people toward non-violent practices. The Los Angeles Times dubbed Art Share ‘the Town Hall of downtown Los
Angeles for its function as ‘the meeting place of culture, ideas and education’. With assistance from the Los Angeles Community Development Bank, Art Share acquired and renovated a 30,000 square foot warehouse centered in the burgeoning Downtown Artists’ District. The two-story facility houses an
99 seat dance studio and theater, the Warehouse Art Gallery, a computer lab, art studio, classroom spaces and 30 residential lofts for low-income artists. These exciting additions have enabled Art Share to expand opportunities to the inner-city and continue to promote cultural excellence to under-served communities in Los Angeles. www.artsharela.org
